Westward Ho! is a seaside town perfect for relaxing on the blue flag beach, rockpooling, swimming, surfing, body boarding or kite surfing. The village & beach is just a 5 minute walk from the house, with plenty of restaurants, bars and shops, plus over 2 miles of sandy beach and the free seawater pool.
The market town of Bideford is approximately 2 miles distant and offers an excellent range of restaurants, bars, cafes and shopping facilities.

Head along the coast towards Exmoor and the surfing beaches of Woolacombe, Croyde and Putsborough, plus the beautiful Saunton sands beach backed by Braunton burrows.
Slightly further afield is the seaside resort of Ilfracombe with it’s dramatic cliff top scenery, sea safari's and the unique Tunnels beaches and Combe Martin with it’s sandy beach and rock pools.
Head west to the rocky secluded cove at Bucks Mills, the cobbled streets and quay at Clovelly, famous for it’s donkeys, Hartland peninsular for clifftop walks and secluded beaches and into Cornwall to the traditional seaside town of Bude.
The kids will be spoilt for things to do with the miles of sandy beaches, The Big Sheep, Milky Way and the Aqua & Wake Park all within a 20 minute drive. A bit further afield are Watermouth Theme Park and Castle, Combe Martin Wildlife and dinosaur park and Exmoor Zoo.
Try a day trip to the unspoilt island of Lundy home to seals and puffins. Boats can be taken from Bideford or Ilfracombe, the sea safari is a must!
For any keen golfers, Westward Ho! Has the oldest golf course in England overlooking the beach and sea. There are also good golf clubs at Torrington and Saunton and all welcome visitors.
The 180 miles of Tarka trail is great for both walkers and cyclists, bikes can be rented from Bideford or Puffing Billy Station near Torrington.
Other nearby places of interest are Tapely Park near Instow, RHS Rosemoor and Dartington Crystal visitor centre both near Great Torrington.
